Tom Biery/Trans PixsClean Energy Fuels Corp. said Tuesday it has signed an agreement with Pilot Travel Centers to build, own and operate natural gas fueling facilities at Pilot Flying J truck travel centers nationwide.
Pilot Flying J, the largest truck-fueling operator in the United States, operates more than 550 truck travel centers in 43 states and six Canadian provinces.
Clean Energy said it will own and operate both compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities at the truck stops.
“With the availability of new, Class 8, 2010 EPA-compliant natural gas trucks from several major manufacturers, major regional and national trucking operators are considering the move to natural gas for their fleets to add fuel diversity, lower emissions and reduce dependence on imported oil,” Clean Energy CEO Andrew Littlefair said.
