Diesel fuel’s average price continued its downward trend, dropping 1 cent from a week prior to $3.822 a gallon in its fourth straight weekly decline, while gasoline rose 2.5 cents to $3.219, the Department of Energy reported Nov. 18.

The report from DOE’s Energy Information Administration said diesel is at its lowest price since July 1. It is 15.4 cents lower than it was a year ago.

Diesel’s pump price has not risen in 11 weeks. The price was unchanged from the previous week for two of those weekly reports.

Gasoline saw its first increase since Oct. 21’s 0.6-cent gain to $3.36, DOE said. It was the largest increase since September.

Despite the increase, gasoline is still 21 cents below its price a year ago. In DOE’s Nov. 11 report, gasoline reached its lowest price since February 2011.

Each week, DOE surveys about 400 diesel filling stations and 800 gasoline stations to compile national average prices.
