Efficient Drivetrains Announces New Class 8 Products
Efficient Drivetrains Inc. expanded its EDI PowerDrive product line to include a new powertrain suitable for Class 8 vehicle applications.
It is available in all-electric or plug-in hybrid configurations.
EDI has received contracts for the electric and plug-in hybrid versions of its new EDI PowerDrive 8000 series from an original equipment manufacturer partner for deployment in mid-2018, the Milpitas, Calif.-based company said.
The company is offering the 8000 series electrification kit and an accompanying developer support program for OEMs looking to quickly bring heavy-duty electrified vehicles to market. The company can also install the powertrain systems and perform vehicle integration as a service for OEMs
The all-electric drivetrain has an operating range of 100 miles. The range-extended plug-in hybrid version delivers 35 miles of electric driving and 300 miles of series-parallel hybrid driving before refueling is required.
