Lagana Returns to ATA to Run Pair of Councils

Brian Lagana, a former American Trucking Associations executive, is returning to ATA on Sept. 30 as executive director of two federation councils dealing with safety and security.

Lagana will run ATA’s Safety Management Council and its Supply Chain Security & Loss Prevention Council. Since 2003, he has been executive director of the Pedorthic Footcare Association of McLean, Virginia.

The announcement of Lagana’s hiring was made Sept. 23 to SMC and SCSLPC members by Warren Hoemann, ATA senior vice president for industry affairs, to whom Lagana will report.

The two previous directors of the councils were Rick Cates and Susan Chandler.

In his previous stint with ATA, which started in the late 1990s, Lagana worked on issues for motor carriers in the agricultural, intermodal, air and expedited, and publications segments of the industry.

Lagana lives in Alexandria, Virginia, and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
