McLeod Software has added a variety of new capabilities and functions in the latest version of its LoadMaster and PowerBroker transportation management software.

The new version 15.1 software, available now, includes improvements for carriers and logistics firms that manage intermodal shipments. McLeod said its new “master order” concept makes it easier for users to manage customer orders that cover multiple containers, deliveries, dray moves and possibly several rail moves.

To streamline communication with drivers, the upgrade also enables LoadMaster and PowerBroker users to send messages directly to drivers via text message or e-mail, the Birmingham, Alabama-based software company said in the April 16 announcement.

McLeod said it also has enhanced its Carrier-Broker Exchange feature, which has been rebranded as the McLeod Market Insight Module in the new release.

Market Insight provides rate information for truckload shipments in markets across North America, all compiled from the order-rate history for shipments made by hundreds of transportation companies that use McLeod’s software.

This gives McLeod customers insight about the rates similar companies received for truckload freight in any given lane in the past day, week or 28-day period, the company said.
