Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp.announced the recent opening of its metals transload and warehousing facility in Joliet, Ill. The 121,680-square-foot facility is operated by Odyssey subsidiary CMI Logistics.

“We are now in a position to better serve our metals industry clients and increase our throughput by up to 20%,” said Bob Shellman, CEO of Odyssey. “This is an investment in the future of our business and continues to strengthen our leadership position in providing our clients with innovative solutions to their logistics challenges.”

Strategically located at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Joliet, also known as CIC-Joliet/Logistics Park Chicago, the pristine facility provides easy access to the BNSF intermodal rail yards through the park’s private road system. The site also offers easy access for flatbed motor carriers bringing metal products into CMI from interstates 55 and 80.

“Because our business is focused on the intermodal movement of metals, it is imperative for us to be located near intermodal ramps and highway infrastructure,” said Paul Sever, executive vice president of CMI Logistics. “This new facility accomplishes that.”

Key features and benefits of the new facility include but are not limited to 10 docks, 16 trailer positions, 6,000 square-feet of space, three drive-through bays and reinforced slab floors.
