PGT Trucking Inc. said it is using a new technology to improve safety — headsets designed to detect driver fatigue.

The headsets, invented by Maven Machines, incorporate a fatigue monitor and alert system to shield drivers from fatigue and distraction and prevent accidents.

PGT said five of its drivers are currently using the Maven Co-Pilot headsets.

“We are the first to use it, but we believe many others in the industry will follow as this device proves its great value in keeping drivers safe,” said Gregg Troian, the company’s president. “Keeping our drivers and the public safe is our first priority.”

PGT, headquartered in Monaca, Pennsylvania, provides flatbed, dedicated, international and specialized services. It operates a fleet of more than 1,000 trucks and 1,500 trailers.

“PGT Trucking has championed safety measures for over 30 years and is the ideal client to introduce the trucking industry’s first wearable fatigue-monitoring and alert system,” said Maven CEO Avi Geller.
