SmartTruck announced its TopKit aerodynamic components will be installed on Stoughton Lease’s entire fleet of rental trailers.

The leasing company chose TopKit, given its proven durability and limited lifetime warranty, Stoughton Lease President Paul Sulewski said in a statement. Together they give “our customers peace of mind that they will not have to contend with costly damages at the end of the rental or lease period.”

Stoughton Lease is a subsidiary of Stoughton, Wis.-based STI Holdings Inc., as is Stoughton Trailers.

The TopKit feature, which weighs 63 pounds, consists of two components: the Aero Rain Guard, which redirects high-energy air flow from the roof down into the low-energy wake, and two side fairings that send air flow around the back corners into the low-energy wake.

The system reduces the drag on the vehicle and improves fuel mileage by 5.5% on a typical 53-foot trailer during normal, longhaul highway operations, according to Greenville, S.C.-based SmartTruck.

The SimCenter — Center of Excellence in Applied Computational Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, verified the drag-reduction performance, the company said.
