TMC Introduces Certification for Vehicle Maintenance Standards

American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council said it has introduced a certification for users of its Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards.

The certification can provide users a means of demonstrating their proficiency in VMRS, TMC’s industry standard for tracking equipment and maintenance information, the group said.

“VMRS has been an important tool for successful fleet operation for more than 40 years, and now users can receive acknowledgment of their skills,” Carl Kirk, vice president of maintenance, information technology and logistics at ATA, said in a statement. “The Certified VMRS Specialist Program will help broaden the scope and importance of VMRS to the maintenance community.”

The certification test consists of 15 questions and an essay about VMRS. It costs $100 for ATA and TMC members and $125 for nonmembers.
