Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told supporters in New York on June 22 that he would be the only presidential candidate able to repair the country’s deteriorating infrastructure.

“When I see the crumbling roads and bridges or the dilapidated airports or the factories moving overseas to Mexico, or to other countries for that matter, I know these problems can all be fixed, but not by Hillary Clinton,” Trump said. “Only by me.”

Throughout the presidential contest, Trump has contended his experience in real estate helps to position him ahead of Clinton on the issue of infrastructure.

Trump has yet to post on his campaign website a plan for advancing an infrastructure agenda. He shared infrastructure concerns in his book, “Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again.”

Clinton, the presumptive nominee for Democrats, has proposed a 5-year, $275 billion plan aimed at boosting infrastructure investments and freight connectivity projects.

The American Society of Civil Engineers gave the country’s overall infrastructure a grade of D+ in 2013.
