Truckload carrier and logistics provider Werner Enterprises announced much-earlier acquisitions of a pair of truck-driving schools, the American Institute of Trucking and Roadmaster Drivers School.

Werner said it bought Phoenix-based AIT in August 2013, and that it purchased Tampa, Florida-based Roadmaster in May 2014 for undisclosed amounts.

Werner delayed the announcements to allow for a full-system integration between the carrier and the schools and to ensure that student employer of choice remained a priority, it said. The Omaha, Nebraska-based carrier said it is committed to ensuring students maintain the ability to choose their preferred carrier to work for after graduation.

The management teams at both will remain in place, Werner said, adding that it had worked with the two schools for many years, was familiar with the high quality of the new drivers the companies produced and shared common business goals with the schools.
