ASHINGTON — An official with Volvo Trucks North America said the company expects the driving stabilization system built with Bendix that helps prevent rollovers will be utilized by about half or more of the buyers of its Class 8 trucks by the end of the decade, up from about 25% today.

The Volvo Enhanced Stability has been sold as standard equipment for a year on Volvo’s Class 8 VN and VT model trucks. However, about 75% of buyers elect to save $845 and buy their rigs without the system, said Matt Kelly, executive director for marketing at VTNA.

“In a couple of years, we believe 50% of our buyers will elect to keep the system as standard equipment,” Kelly told Transport Topics.
