ATD Selects Robert Hunter Dealer of Year

he American Truck Dealers division of the National Automobile Dealers Association named Robert Hunter as its 2006 Dealer of the Year at the ATD annual convention and exhibition in Atlanta, Saturday through Monday.

Hunter is president of Hunter Truck Sales & Service Inc., a group of 12 dealerships headquartered in Butler, Pa., where his father started the original dealership in 1938.

The younger Hunter worked at his father’s dealership while in high school. When he returned home after serving in the U.S. Army’s heavy truck transportation unit, he rejoined the family business and progressed through a number of management positions — warranty manager, credit manager, used truck manager and vice president — before becoming president in 1982.

Since then, Hunter Truck has grown from a single location with 25 employees in Butler, Pa., to 12 locations with more than 500 employees.
