DOT Issues Checklist For Hazmat Shipments

The Department of Transportation last week announced its recommendations for preventing hazardous cargo from being turned into weapons of mass destruction.

DOT’s Research and Special Programs Administration, which oversees hazmat movements, developed recommendations in four areas: a general security plan, personnel security, facility security and en-route security.

“Virtually all” tank truck carriers have implemented the RSPA guidelines, Clifford Harvison, president of National Tank Truck Carriers, said.
