Emery Worldwide Buys Out Partner

Emery Worldwide of Redwood City, Calif., has reached an agreement to acquire the air and ocean freight business of Walsh Western International Ltd., its partner in Ireland.

The acquisition will allow Emery to provide dedicated air freight, ocean forwarding, customs brokerage and logistics management services in Ireland. The new headquarters for the business will be in Dublin.

Emery also will open an office in Shannon, County Clare.

“Emery is now moving from a strategic partnership agreement to managing its own dedicated operations in Ireland, supporting Emery’s goal to expand its global network in markets that warrant such a move,” said Peter Brougham, the company vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Michael Enright, chief executive of Walsh Western, will be retained as a consultant, Emery announced. He will work closely with David Harrison, Emery’s division general manager for the United Kingdom, Ireland and Africa.

The staff from Walsh Western will remain in place. They will be supported by a global sales team, an operations and international account staff and additional field sales personnel.
