Highway Watch, DHS Say Agreement Will Help Responders
spokesman with American Trucking Associations’ Highway Watch program said an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security will allow information about potential terrorist threats to be disseminated directly to the 22,000 first responders in the federal emergency management network.
The agreement between the Highway Information Sharing and Analysis Center and DHS’ Emergency Management and Response Information Sharing and Analysis Center will allow Highway Watch reports to “more quickly reach law enforcement officers, fire departments, emergency medical technicians and other emergency management personnel across the nation,” said John Willard, a program spokesman.
Don Rondeau, director of the Highway-ISAC, said the alliance “greatly enhances our ability to immediately mobilize and respond to an incident, and that increased capacity to react will pay tremendous dividends in our effort to keep America safe and secure.”
