n Alabama state senator’s proposal to create a motorists’ hot line to report unsafe commercial vehicles has drawn criticism from trucking groups, which questioned the motive of the proposal.

State Sen. Larry Means (D) said March 17 he was preparing to introduce a bill to create the hot line during the current session of the state legislature.

“Alabama ranks 10th in the nation in the numbers of large trucks involved in fatal crashes,” Means said.
