Purolator International to Expand in U.S.
The move by the international unit of Canada-based trucking and express carrier Purolator Inc. will create a presence for Purolator in 18 of the 20 largest U.S. markets, the company said in a statement.
Canada is the largest U.S. trading partner, accounting for more than $600 billion in goods and services traded across the two countries’ borders annually.
“The expansion of Purolator will solidify our role as the choice logistics provider for service to Canada,” said John Sweeney, Purolator vice president for field sales and service.
At the beginning of 2011, Purolator operated 10 branch offices across the United States. Eight of those offices are located in the top 14 markets for trade with Canada.
New offices already have opened in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
Purolator plans to open facilities later this year in Houston, Miami and Milwaukee.
Purolator’s presence grows at a time when U.S. businesses are looking to Canada as a source of new customers and economic opportunity. U.S. exports to Canada totaled more than $250 billion during 2010, and are on track to surpass that amount during 2011, Purolator said.
