ank truck carrier Transport Service Co., Oak Brook, Ill., said June 13 it agreed to buy the chemical transportation assets of tank truck carrier Mission Petroleum Carriers Inc., Houston.

George Peirce, Transport’s vice president of sales and marketing, told Transport Topics the purchase would give the carrier the opportunity to expand its chemical hauling operations in the Gulf region.

Mission is selling the chemical division so it can develop its oil-hauling operations throughout the Southwest, Peirce said. He said the deal is expected to close next month.
