Truck Makers Unveil ’07 Models With Improved Aerodynamics

OUISVILLE, Ky. — International, Kenworth, Peterbilt and Volvo unveiled new aerodynamically designed trucks at the Mid-America Trucking Show here, and Freightliner said its 2007 heavy-duty trucks would cost $7,000 to $10,000 more than comparable 2006 models.

Peterbilt Motors Co. introduced an all-new line-up of its Class 8 and medium-duty trucks while Paccar stablemate Kenworth Truck Co. showed off its new Class 8 and Class 6 trucks.

Both Paccar companies said they strove to make their trucks more aerodynamic to offset the expected higher fuel consumption of 2007 engines, which must meet tightened emission regulations.
