Alcoa Rolls out Lightweight Wheel
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Alcoa announced here it has rolled out the world’s lightest heavy-duty truck wheel, the Ultra ONE, which will help trucks shed pounds for improved payload and fuel efficiency.
“Alcoa continues to reinvent the wheel. Our new innovation is heavy-duty without the ‘heavy,’ and it looks great, too,” said Tim Myers, president of Alcoa wheel and transportation products.
The company displayed the wheel here March 27 at the opening of the Mid-America Trucking Show.
The Ultra ONE can help save up to 1,400 pounds per rig, enabling fleets to carry more goods while meeting stringent federal emissions regulations, the company said.
