Vehicle hauler Allied Systems Holdings has emerged from bankruptcy, the company said in a statement.

Formerly known as Allied Holdings, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2005 and is now owned by private equity firm Yucaipa Cos. A federal bankruptcy court approved its reorganization plan on May 18.

Company officials declined additional comment.

Allied last week named Mark Gendregske its new chief executive officer. He will replace Hugh Sawyer and is scheduled to start as CEO on Friday.

Gendregske was the former president of logistics provider Vector SCM, which provided third-party logistics services to General Motors Corp.

Allied is ranked No. 27 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
