American West Acquires Sun Delivery in Furniture-Hauling Consolidation

American West Worldwide Express Inc. announced Sept. 18 it will acquire Sun Delivery. The deal will close Oct. 1, but terms were not disclosed.
Both firms specialize in delivering furniture in the North American market.
Sun Delivery, founded in 1995, operates 200,000 square feet of facilities in Thomasville, N.C., Dallas and Las Vegas, the companies said. Sun Delivery has 250 employees and 150 pieces of equipment.
American West began as a specialized furniture carrier in 1993, based in Southern California.

In 2012, American West was selected by several large Costco vendors. In 2013, it was selected by Overstock as a premier furniture carrier. American West now delivers thousands of shipments each month to retail stores and into customers’ homes, according to the American West website.
The company also receives ocean containers from importers and provides warehousing, cross-docking and shipping for importers, manufacturers, retail stores, e-commerce and final-mile delivery throughout the United States.
Domestic services include truckload, less-than-truckload and in-home delivery. — Transport Topics
