Executives from the truck stop industry visiting Capitol Hill this month for meetings with federal lawmakers will get the chance to hear about trucking matters from the leader of American Trucking Associations.

ATA President Chris Spear is scheduled to address members of the National Association of Truck Stop Operators on May 16, for the group’s “Day on Capitol Hill.”

Spear’s address is expected to touch on the Trump administration's target of delivering to Congress this year a $1 trillion infrastructure investment plan, as well as an update on key funding ideas, and autonomous technology.

“This informative talk also will provide insight into the future of trucking,” according to NATSO.

Also speaking to the group will be John Eichberger, executive director of The Fuels Institute, a nonprofit, and Doug Kantor, legal counsel at the Merchant Payments Coalition.

The group will be hosting the annual forum May 15-17. The event coordinates meetings between Natso members and lawmakers or their transportation policy staff.

Natso represents travel plaza and truck stop owners and operator. The group opposes tolling and rest area commercialization.
