ATA Requests Judgement in Oregon Tax Lawsuit

American Trucking Associations fired another shot in the ongoing battle against the Oregon weight-distance tax, asking a state court for a summary judgment to immediately resolve the question whether the tax, the oldest of its kind, violates the U.S. Constitution.

ATA was joined by trucking companies CRST Inc. and USF Reddaway in filing a lawsuit in July 2000 after the state’s voters overturned the Oregon Legislature’s repeal of the weight-distance tax.
