| Staff ReporterATA to Sue Oregon Over Ton-Mile Tax
Oregon’s weight-distance tax unconstitutionally discriminates against interstate carriers, according to a lawsuit American Trucking Associations plans to file against the state within the next month.
The lawsuit was approved by the executive committee of the ATA Litigation Center at the trucking group’s summer leadership meeting last week.
Both states offer reduced tax rates to haulers of certain agricultural commodities.

ATA will use the same argument in Oregon that it employed to help bring down Idaho’s weight-distance tax.
