ATD Announces Finalists for Dealer of Year Award
The finalists for the 2016 Truck Dealer of the Year award were announced Feb. 3.
American Truck Dealers said the five nominees are:
• Tom Bertolino, vice president of NorCal Kenworth, with locations in California.
•Jerry Kocan, dealer principal of Four Star Freightliner, with locations in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
• Ron Meyering, president and dealer principal of M&K Truck Centers, with locations in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
• Tom Noerr, co-owner and vice president of Noerr's International, with locations in Pennsylvania.
• Dennis Thompson, chairman and CEO of Thompson Truck & Trailer Inc., with locations in Illinois and Iowa.
The nominees were selected by state, metro and national association leaders and will be evaluated by a panel of professors from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business on dealership performance, industry leadership and civic contributions, ATD said in a statement.
The 2015 winner, Scott McCandless, president of McCandless Truck Center in Aurora, Colorado, started his career at his father’s International Truck dealership in Las Vegas in 1972.
“What a complete honor,” McCandless said when he won the award. “It is especially humbling to be selected from such a select group of dealers.”
This year’s winner and runner-up will be announced during the ATD Convention & Expo in Las Vegas from March 31 to April 3. Super Bowl quarterback Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos will be the keynote speaker.
