The investment will expand ZAF’s manufacturing capacity from hundreds of batteries per month to thousands in ZAF’s Joplin, Mo., facility. The added capacity will help ZAF meet growing customer demand for its rechargeable nickel-zinc batteries globally, company officials said. ZAF said its batteries have potential uses in automobiles, heavy trucking, remote telecommunications and renewable energy. ZAF officials said their batteries have the ability to provide twice the storage capacity and three times the power of legacy lead-acid batteries in a smaller, lighter package.

ZAF Energy Systems develops and commercializes next-generation battery technologies that use sustainable, nontoxic materials and can be safely and easily recycled.
