Big Dig Ready to Give Little Peek
Mark your calendars for Dec. 31 and prepare to party at the Big Dig in Boston.
While the 10-lane underground highway won’t be open to trucks or any other traffic for another four years, the public will be able to take a peek at the $14.1 billion trench during a 15-minute walking tour on New Year’s Eve.
“Visitors from all over the world come to study the Central Artery Project, which will be one of the wonders of the city when it is finished. This will be a great opportunity for families to get out and see what this Project is all about as well,” said Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino.

“We are trying in to show people we have been working hard. A lot of people don’t see the progress; we are 70% done overall. This will really show people the size of this project . . . and the significant progress in the past three years,” said Sean O’Neill, public affairs spokesman.
