Flatbed carrier Boyd Bros. Transportation has ordered 325 trucks with 2010 engines from
Navistar Inc., the manufacturer said Thursday.
Boyd Bros., Clayton, Ala., will take delivery of the first 100 ProStar+ tractors with 13-liter MaxxForce engines this year and the remaining 225 units throughout next year, a Navistar spokesman said.
Navistar is using a third generation of exhaust gas recirculation technology to meet tighter federal emissions standards this year. All other major truck makers are using selective catalytic reduction.
Navistar said recently that J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Lowell, Ark., had ordered at least 5,000 trucks through 2014 (click here for previous story).
With a fleet of 1,050 tractors, Boyd Bros. is the 10th-largest for-hire flatbed carrier in the United States and Canada, according to a Transport Topics survey.
