Tire maker Bridgestone Americas Inc. announced a shift in its senior leadership structure, effective Sept. 16.
In the new structure, sales of all tire-led businesses across the Americas region, including the company’s large integrated consumer and commercial tire businesses, will be aligned under TJ Higgins. He has been appointed to the new role of group president of Americas Tire Business for Bridgestone Americas.
Higgins, who joined the company in 2014, most recently was president of the Consumer Integrated Tire Division for the U.S. and Canada in Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
At the same time, Scott Damon has been appointed group president of operations for Bridgestone Americas. This new role is designed to create greater focus on the company’s end-to-end supply chain capabilities and includes some of the previous responsibilities of the chief operating officer, whose role has been redefined.
Damon previously was president of the commercial group for U.S. and Canada in Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
Bridgestone also has created a new senior leadership role dedicated to managing the significant portfolio of digital transformation investments in infrastructure and growth platforms, the largest in the company’s history. Bill Thompson will serve in this capacity as executive vice president of business transformation for Bridgestone Americas. Thompson was chief operating officer of Bridgestone Americas from 2016 to 2019.
These changes are part of a broader succession platform designed to cultivate global leaders throughout the enterprise, according to the Nashville, Tenn.-based company. Bridgestone Americas is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corp., the world’s largest tire and rubber company. — Transport Topics
