Bridgestone will increase prices up to 15% on tread, cushion and some ancillary items from its subsidiary Bandag Inc., the tire company announced July 1.
The Bandag products price increase will only affect the markets in the United States and Canada. Bridgestone said the decision to raise prices was made in response to current market dynamics. The price increases are expected to go into effect Aug. 1.
Bandag supplies rubber used by its franchisees for the retreading of tires. The company is primarily focused on trucks and buses. It manufactures pre-cured tread rubber, equipment and supplies for the retreading of tires by means of a patented cold bonding process. Cold bonding doesn’t involve heat unlike traditional bonding techniques that melt materials so that they fuse into one. It is achieved with the use of an adhesive that forms a bond between the two materials.
Bridgestone said that its commercial sales teams are contacting customers to provide more detailed information about the changes. — Transport Topics
