Celadon Trucking Services said it has agreed to buy a portion of the equipment owned by Hiner Transport LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hiner’s website said the truckload carrier was formed in 1967 in Huntington, Ind., and sold to Service First Corp. in 1999. The website also said the fleet consists of about 200 tractors and 550 trailers.
“As with previous acquisitions, the Hiner deal provides quality customer gains, incremental density in key traffic lanes, and access to an experienced driver pool”, Paul Will, Celadon’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement Friday. “Hiner had a solid, core group of customers and drivers, and we expect to fully integrate these groups within our operations in a prompt, efficient manner."
Earlier this year, Celadon bought assets from Teton Transportation. Late last year, it also reached similar deals with Frozen Food Express and YRC Worldwide’s Glen Moore unit.
Celadon Trucking is the largest operating unit of Celadon Group, which is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
