Central Freight Lines Buys 100 CNG Trucks

Less-than-truckload carrier Central Freight Lines Inc. has added 100 Freightliner compressed natural gas-powered tractors to its fleet of more than 1,600 trucks, the companies announced.

The new tractors, 2014 Freightliner M2 112 models, are equipped with Cummins Westport ISL G natural-gas engines.

“In 2012, we purchased CNG tractors that have been servicing the Houston area with proven efficiencies. As a result, we decided to continue investing in CNG tractors,” Central Freight Lines CEO Don Orr said in the Sept. 6 announcement.

Orr also said the carrier is partnering to build CNG fueling stations in Houston, San Antonio and Fort Worth, Texas, as a result of its investment in CNG trucks.

Central Freight Lines, headquartered in Waco, Texas, operates from 51 terminals throughout the Southwest.
