Ceridian-UCLA Trucking Index Slips 0.7% Year-Over-Year

The Ceridian-UCLA Pulse of Commerce Index, which measures diesel fuel card purchases at truck stops, slipped in December from a year ago but showed improvement from November.

The index declined 0.7% year-over-year but rose 0.2% from November, payroll processor Ceridian said.

The index is based on millions of gallons of diesel purchases using fuel cards from Comdata, a subsidiary of Ceridian.

The report also said that the weak second half 2011 economy left the index 1.2% below the level at the end of June.
