C.H. Robinson Reports Higher 4Q Profit

Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide reported a fourth-quarter profit of $109.2 million, or 67 cents a share, up 5.9% from $103.2 million, or 62 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue grew 10.4% to $2.57 billion, the company said late Tuesday. Transportation revenue rose 4.9% to $358.7 million.

Truck revenue, including truckload and less-than-truckload services, gained 5.5% to $306.4 million. Truckload volumes increased 7%, while truckload margins fell due to higher fuel prices. LTL revenues grew 22%, driven by a 14% increase in shipments and pricing increases.

Intermodal revenue grew 7.9% to $10.2 million.



For the full 2011 year, income gained 11.5% to $431.6 million, from $387 million the previous year. Revenue grew 11.5% to $10.34 billion.
