China’s Truck Sales Booming

China’s vehicle sales rose at the fastest pace in four months, led by economic growth and higher truck demand, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Total vehicle production rose 22% to 710,200 units, while commercial vehicle sales rose 30%, to 225,100, Bloomberg said, citing the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

China’s 11.1% first-quarter economic growth rate is fueling demand for trucks by Foton Motor Co. and Dongfeng Motor Group Co. to transport goods within the nation and move cargo to ports, Bloomberg said.

Beiqi Foton, Dongfeng and China FAW Group Co. were the three biggest commercial vehicle makers in the first five months, Bloomberg reported.
