Choice of Hart Seen Positive By Industry

Trucking insiders have given an emphatic thumbs-up to the appointment of Clyde J. Hart Jr. as acting deputy administrator at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Secretary of Transportation Rodney E. Slater formally announced the appointment May 22. It does not require Senate approval.

he move gives the agency, which was established in December, a new go-to director, a role previously filled by Julie A. Cirillo.



Cirillo becomes acting chief safety officer at the regulatory agency.

Deputy Administrator John E. Graykowki will assume Hart’s job of administrator at the Federal Maritime Administration.
