Chrysler to Reopen Four Assembly Plants

Chrysler LLC said Tuesday it has reached an interim production agreement with Plastech Engineered Products that will reopen four assembly plants the automaker shut down on Monday.

“All impacted manufacturing operations currently down will immediately resume production with second shift employees to report as normally scheduled,” the automaker said in a statement.

Plastech supplies Chrysler with interior, exterior and powertrain plastic components.

Chrysler had closed four U.S. auto assembly plants and could close two more this week, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

Chrysler, formerly part of DaimlerChrysler, halted production at plants in Belvidere, Ill.; Newark, Del.; Sterling Heights, Mich.; and Toledo, Ohio.
