Clarification: Werner Gains C-TPAT Validation

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story said in the headline that Werner had gained "certification," instead of "validation."

Truckload carrier Werner Enterprises said late Monday it has become a validated member in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, or C-TPAT, federal cross-border trade program.

C-TPAT is a joint government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen the overall supply chain and border security, developed by the Department of Homeland Security.

Werner said its C-TPAT-approved customers will benefit from improved border crossing times, faster clearance of imports and ongoing process improvements, resulting in increased transportation efficiencies.

“C-TPAT offers more business opportunities, and the freight we transport is more secure,” said John Vana, Werner’s associate vice president of regulatory compliance.

Werner is ranked No. 16 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
