Con-way, Caterpillar Units Expand Deal

Less-than-truckload carrier Con-way Freight said it won more business from Caterpillar Logistics Services.

Con-way Freight, Ann Arbor, Mich., said Monday it is now providing Caterpillar Logistics, Morton, Ill., with LTL service out of 27 states — 16 states more than were included in Con-way’s initial deal with Caterpillar Logistics, which was struck last year.

A Caterpillar Logistics spokeswoman declined to comment further on the new deal with Con-way Freight.

A spokeswoman for the carrier did not return calls from Transport Topics.

Also included in the expanded agreement, Con-way will provide Caterpillar Logistics with LTL service into and out of Mexico and Canada, the carrier said in a statement.

Con-way Freight is part of Con-way Inc., which is based in San Mateo, Calif. The parent company ranks No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
