Con-way Freight Sets New Cargo-Loading System

Con-way Freight said Wednesday it has deployed a SafeStack load management and cargo protection system across its fleet of 16,800 freight trailers in North America.

The action follows a strategic, nine-month, multi-million-dollar investment in a unique, adjustable decking and securing system that enables less-than-truckload shipments to be handled more efficiently, travel more securely and gain increased protection against damage.

The SafeStack system was purchased from Ancra International LLC, which makes cargo handling, loading and restraint systems for aircraft cargo, the military and transportation.

Con-way Freight is the LTL unit and largest operating subsidiary of Con-way Inc., ranked No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
