Con-way Freight’s Labrie Steps Down

Con-way Inc. said Tuesday that John Labrie, president of its less-than-truckload Con-way Freight unit, has left the company “to pursue other interests.”

Douglas Stotlar, chief executive officer of parent company Con-way Inc., will be interim president of the LTL unit, the company said in a statement.

Con-way Freight is Con-way’s largest unit. Its second-quarter operating profit was $17.2 million, down from $49 million a year earlier, the company said Aug. 4. (Click here for previous story.)

LTL revenue improved 25.8% to $817million in the quarter. Con-way Inc.’s net income fell to $13.9 million, or 26 cents per share, from $31.5 million, or 64 cents, a year ago.



Con-way is ranked No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
