Congress Views Hybrid Truck Demonstration

Seventeen medium- and heavy-duty trucks with hybrid engines rolled onto Capitol Hill June 11 as equipment manufacturers demonstrated the vehicles for legislators and staff.

The event was sponsored by clean-vehicles group CalStart and its Hybrid Truck Users Forum.

A Duke University professor also presented a study, Hybrid Drivetrains for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Trucks, which argues for government investment to expedite development of the vehicle technology.

John Formisano, vice president of global vehicles for FedEx Express, was scheduled to speak at the event.
