Connecticut’s Traffic Congestion Top Issue for Legislature

To get into New England, freight must almost always move through Connecticut. But the trucking industry in that state is among many – including legislators – who feel that the gateway risks being clogged to a standstill by overwhelming congestion.

Michael Riley, president of Motor Transport Association of Connecticut, said his association and many of the state’s business groups have identified transportation as the key legislative issue for 2001.

"Mobility and connectivity are key words in the legislature this year," he said. “Congestion is a major impediment of future development.”
