Contrans Group Acquires Best Transfer

Canadian flatbed carrier Contrans Group Inc. said it has acquired the operating assets and real property of Best Transfer, based in Guelph, Ontario.

Best Transfer operates about 30 trucks and 50 trailers in the flatbed, tank and dry bulk businesses, Contrans said in a Nov. 25 statement.

“The purchase of Best Transfer fits well into the existing competencies of our Ontario divisions,” Contrans Chairman and CEO Stan Dunford said in a statement. The acquisition will strengthen Contrans’ relationships with existing Best customers and help expand its terminal footprint, Dunford said.

Contrans expects that acquisition to add C$8 million in annual revenue. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Contrans ranks No. 51 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
