The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case stemming from California’s vehicle pollution limits, agreeing to decide whether companies that produce or sell biofuels have a legal right to sue over the regulations.

The companies, which include units of Valero Energy Corp. that produce or sell biofuels and other liquid fuels, say the Environmental Protection Agency exceeded its authority by letting California try to tackle climate change through limits on auto emissions.

California’s auto rules are already in danger because of Donald Trump’s presidential election victory.
