Flatbed carrier Cox Transfer said it will acquire Horton Trucking, effective April 1. Terms were not disclosed.
Cox, Eureka, Ill., said the purchase of Horton, Tremont, Ill., will allow the company to provide flatbed service throughout the continental United States and is the first of a series of acquisitions it plans to make in the next three years. Cox has a fleet of 125 tractors.
“We are excited to continue the expansion of our flatbed division to include longhaul by servicing Horton Trucking’s current customer base and by providing longhaul flatbed service to our current customers,” Mark Voudrie, president of Cox Transfer, said in a statement.
Cox said Clayton Horton, president of Horton Trucking, will work to ensure a smooth transition before retiring and driving part-time for Cox Transfer.
