Crowley Maritime Corp. has announced it will combine its Defense Freight Transportation Services contract management group with other government services under its Crowley Solutions business units. The combination will help to create greater value through economies of scale and management efficiency, according to a Dec. 17 press release.
“Unifying the DFTS group within our existing solutions group will allow us to maximize our services and be a singular resource for the U.S. government,” said Todd Busch, senior vice president and general manager at Crowley Solutions.
The Crowley DFTS management group handles a $2.3 billion federal contract to move various types of cargo from thousands of material suppliers. As part of the program, Crowley has rolled out 38 locations and has achieved 37% small business participation, according to the press release, exceeding federal contract requirements. The company handles more than 1,500 moves daily.
