CTA Pusher Truck Out of Service

Trucks traveling over Donner Pass on Interstate 80 will no longer be able to count on the pusher truck operated by the California Trucking Association to bail them out.

CTA operated the pusher trucks to help commercial vehicles in need for free, but the service had to be suspended due to a series of winter storms this season that left the volunteer program without funding.

In the absence of the pusher trucks, the association recommends that trucking companies plan on using commercial towing services, since only limited help is available from state snow crews.

The long-term future of the pusher truck program will be considered by the CTA Safety Policy Committee during its meeting in Las Vegas, June 9-11.
